Georgia visa-free entry guide

Official Georgian sources indicate that citizens of countries on a government-approved list may enter and stay without a visa for one full year. Eligibility depends on nationality, the list has been amended since it was first published, and entry is decided by the immigration authority at the border.

The basics

Georgia publishes a list of countries whose citizens may enter without a visa, set out in Government Ordinance No. 255 and its later amendments. The notes to the ordinance text reviewed state that citizens of the listed countries may enter and stay for one full year. Embassy pages for Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and the United Arab Emirates state the same one-year stay for their citizens. The final decision to cross the border is made by the Georgian immigration authority.

Stay per entry
One full year for citizens of listed countries, according to the ordinance notes and embassy pages.
Where you apply
No application is described for visa-free entry. Travelers who need a visa can apply through the official e-Visa portal for short stays.
Fee
Sources do not state a fee for visa-free entry.
Validity
Not stated by sources as a separate term. The stay is set by the ordinance and decided at the border.

Who it's for

Eligibility depends on nationality. The ordinance annex lists the eligible countries, and the list has been amended several times since 2015. Check the current list for your own passport before you travel.

  • Citizens of the countries on the ordinance list may enter and stay without a visa for one full year.
  • The 2015 ordinance text states that citizens of European Union member states may enter with a travel document, or with an identity card issued by an EU member state showing name, surname, date of birth and a photo.
  • Some residents or holders of a visa from another country may qualify for a shorter visa-free stay of 90 calendar days in any 180-day period, according to embassy pages. The conditions differ by embassy, so check the one for your country of residence.

How to apply

Visa-free entry does not involve an application in the sources reviewed. Travelers who need a visa can use the official e-Visa portal, which states that aliens traveling for short-term purposes are eligible. The portal states a fee of 20 USD plus a 2% service fee, and that a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

Documents

Sources reviewed do not list a document checklist for visa-free entry. The e-Visa portal lists documents to carry at the border for visa holders (passport, proof of purpose of travel, accommodation, travel and health insurance, and sufficient funds). Sources do not confirm that these apply to visa-free travelers.

Stay and extensions

Sources describe the stay as one full year for citizens of listed countries. Sources reviewed do not state extension terms for visa-free stays.

Things to confirm

  • Whether your nationality is on the current government list. The ordinance text reviewed is the 2015 initial version, and the Legislative Herald records amendments since, the most recent dated 24 February 2026.
  • Whether the one-year stay applies to your nationality today. Embassy pages confirm it only for the countries they name.
  • Whether work or study is allowed on a visa-free stay. Official sources reviewed do not state this generally.
  • Whether a visa-free stay can be extended and on what terms. Sources do not state this.
  • Which documents border officers may ask for. Sources do not state a checklist for visa-free travelers.
  • Entry is decided by the Georgian immigration authority at the border.
